Commanders Ball & Holiday Party

Our Commanders Ball & Holiday Party at the Members Club saw some of our members strutting their stuff to the
melodious tunes of The Southern Gents.
Photo left: Verena Flanders, who grew-up in Hawaii, does an
authentic hula to the Hawaiian Wedding Song .  Joyce Newman (right) as Verena's partner didn't do to bad either.
Photo right: Raymond Rutkowski comes in for a landing as he and his wife, Estelle, cut a mean jitter-bug during the
Holiday Party
The dance floor was full all evening.

         *** ~~~~~ INTREPID ~~~~~~ ***

This picture of the Intrepid, the retired WW II aircraft carrier, that was refitted and saw action during the Korean War and is now
home of the Intrepid Air Sea & Space Museum in New York City, was taken on November 6 on the occasion of the ships move to NJ to
accommodate the repair of it's dock in the Hudson River. Unfortunately, six tug boats were only able to move the ship 15' before
she became stuck in the mud. It will now take the efforts of the Navy to free the ship. Its return to her home is projected for early  2008. Because of the proximity to the ship, the dramatic image of the ship is actually 3 separate pictures that were "stitched" together with the
aid of a computer.

Editors note: Squadron member Michael Stern was privileged to be invited with the Official Party to watch the ceremony.                                            Photo by: Lt Michael Stern  ~ Nov 14, 06

"Stealth" boat docking at CannonSport Marina Monday. Saw this as we came back from Bert ashes ceremonies. I took this picture from aboard Coast Guard cutter. Coast Guard did not know anything about this boat either. Guy in white shorts, looking back, (third guy back from bow) was operating the boat from a "white box" remote control. Does anyone have information regarding this vessel, if so and you would like to share, kindly email webmaster  Lt Mike S  mailto:palmbeachps@gmail.com
